Last night the men’s basketball team took the court against Mississippi Valley State for a 91-67 victory. The Aggies were lead by junior forward Kourtney Roberson’s career high 24 points and 10 rebounds. Early in the season the Aggies are 2-0 and hopeful to compete with annual power Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC this season. Late in the first half MVSU pulled within seven points of the end of the first half 42-35 using a 19-9 run over the last 5:43.
While the Delta Devils were able to keep it close for much of the contest, they even got within a point of the Aggies at 58-57 with just over 11 minutes to go in the game. With 5:37 left in the game, Aggies forward Jamal Jones hit a 3-pointer to go up 75-63. The Delta Devils would only score four points in the last five plus minutes of the game. The Aggies offense proved too much for them. MVSU has lost both of their games thus far this season by a combined 79 points after a 55 point defeat against Oklahoma State Friday evening.
Along with Roberson, Alex Caruso added 14 points and Jamal Jones came off the bench to also add 14 points as the only Aggies in double figures. Next up for the Aggies are the 1-0 Rice Owls on Friday Night at Reed Arena. You can see that game on Fox Sports Network and ESPN3.
