There are plenty of coaching rumors flying around the SEC including Alabama’s Nick Saban going to Texas after the season to replace Mack Brown. Likewise there are rumors about Kevin Sumlin being the top target for USC per Sports Illustrated. This should come as no shock to college football fans, when a coach sees success then other schools who are struggling would like to bring them in. As some would say that’s the price of success.
Lane Kiffin who seems to come under fire at every stop hes made was fired at LAX airport following a 62-41 loss to conference rival Arizona State. Currently Ed Orgeron is the interim head coach and has done an impeccable job with the hand dealt. Since the coaching change was made USC has gone 4-1 during that time.
Also in the article from Sports Illustrated it was mentioned that Sumlin could also be the target for the Longhorns. Currently the Longhorns are in first place in the Big 12 with a 7-2 records and unbeaten in conference play. It would seem that Brown has things well in hand at the current time. It would be far-fetched to think that Sumlin would consider leaving the Aggies for the Longhorns.
Sumlin has the fifth best recruiting class coming into 2014 as compared the ninth ranked Longhorns per Rivals. The Aggies have 10 four-star recruits compared to Longhorns’ six. Texas has no five-star recruits while Sumlin has five-star recruit and the best quarterback in the nation Kyle Allen committed to play for him in 2014.
