All hopes on a chance to play for the SEC Championship rode on the Georgia Bulldogs and Mississippi State Bulldogs pulling off the upsets. The first part of the scenario looked as if it would come to fruition as Aaron Murray ran in the go ahead touchdown against Auburn with 1:49 left to play. It would seem that door would be left open for the Texas A&M Aggies to have a fighting chance.
However, a freak play happened with just 25 seconds left in the game. Nick Marshall was down to his last down and needed 18 yards to continue the drive. Marshall threw a deep pass to Ricardo Louis, when Josh Harvey-Clemons deflected the ball it looked as if the Bulldogs would get the win. The ball would fall into the waiting arms of Louis, who would score on the play.
With that loss by Georgia, the Mississippi State outcome wouldn’t matter to the Aggies. Now focus must be shifted toward finishing the season strong with Louisiana State and Missouri looming. The Aggies have a chance to make a strong case for a BCS Bowl game. The Tigers are currently ranked 9th in the BCS Rankings, a victory over them can boost the Aggies current ranking at 11th.
