The rumors having been flying around about the possible departure of Texas A&M Head Coach Kevin Sumlin. The latest reports were that he could end up at the University of Southern California or even in the NFL with the Houston Texans. Then it seemed that the Aggies and Athletic Director Eric Hyman had other plans. CBS College Football Analyst Bruce Feldman tweeted out that Sumlin had recommitted to Texas A&M.

Not even an hour or so after that tweet came out reports surfaced that Sumlin had agreed to an extension. Senior Associate Athletics Director Jason Cook confirmed it with his tweet.

When asked for comment Kevin Sumlin spoke about the extension.
I am humbled and very appreciative of the commitment that Texas A&M has extended not only to me and my family, but to our football program overall. We have only just begun to lay the foundation for sustained, long-term success here at Texas A&M, and we will work hard every day to make this great institution and the 12th Man proud
Now the Aggies can focus on tonight’s game with no distractions moving forward.
Texas A&M AD has this to say about Sumlin and the extension today.
Coach Sumlin has demonstrated why he is considered among the nation’s elite football coaches. His coaching and recruiting abilities are only secondary to his integrity, class and passion for his student-athletes and this university. Texas A&M is making a sincere commitment to Kevin. We are fortunate that he is committed to remain an Aggie for a long time to come, and we are excited about what the future has in store.
