Chick-Fil-A Bowl: Previewing the Defense

As we all know, the Aggie defense struggled this year. While the Aggie defense had its own issues, Duke defense had a few of their own, yet they were quite a bit better than the Aggies. While the Aggies were 89th overall in points allowed (30.9 ppg), the Blue Devils were 46th overall, allowing 24.7 ppg. Now the issues that the Blue Devils have faced on the defensive side of the ball is allowing the opposing team plenty of opportunities to win the game, or at least give them false hope in the 4th quarter.

Only allowing less than 10 once, the Blue Devils struggled. Had the opposing teams had a defense themselves, the Blue Devils more than likely would’ve been blown out; just look at the Florida State game. While the Aggie defense has maintained a “bend, but don’t break” mentality, the Aggie defense should be able to out-perform this mediocre Duke defense as the Blue Devils will have a tough time with Johnny Football and Mike Evans.
