Aggie Basketball Struggles

The Aggie basketball team squared off on the same day the football team takes the field against Duke. Facing the Mean Green of North Texas, the Aggie’s had plenty of time to prepare after their poor loss to Oklahoma. The Mean Green was supposed to be of similar caliber to the Aggie’s as the Mean Green fell to Oklahoma by 13, one point more than the Aggie’s lost. The Aggie’s should have been the better team as they had won the last three games against the Mean Green.

After starting 4-5 from the field, the Aggie’s went cold. Shooting less than 40% for the rest of the game, making less than 20% from 3-point territory. While struggling from the field, the Aggie’s had trouble distorting the Mean Green’s zone, which led to their poor shooting. Along with struggling against the zone, the Aggie’s never got Kourtney Roberson going as he finished 2 points. Fabyon Harris would lead the Aggie’s in scoring with 9.

1999 was the Mean Green’s last victory, when they beat the Aggie’s in their stadium, 91-88. This score varied as the Mean Green won tonight 61-41. This North Texas victory was a shock to everyone as the Mean Green had been allowing 76 points per game, while the Aggie’s were averaging 73 points per game. Should the Aggie’s struggle against their next opponent, Pan America, changes will definitely be needed.
