No. 7 Texas A&M Softball went 4-0 this week on the road against Memphis and No. 22 Ole Miss to improve to 25-2 on the season. The Aggies outscored their opponents 30-3.

Aggie Baseball suffered through a tough week on the diamond, but the ladies of Aggie Softball certainly did not. The four game stretch included two run rule victories—Tuesday at Memphis and Saturday at Ole Miss—and a Saturday shutout. The weekend put the Aggies in second place in the SEC, just behind unbeaten Florida.

After such a successful week, the team moved up the NCAA Women’s Softball RPI to an astounding No. 4 in the nation. The ladies stayed at No. 7 in the USA Today NFCA Coach’s Poll. Texas A&M also checks in at No. 7 in the ESPN rankings as well.

Tuesday at Memphis

The Aggies were on fire from the first pitch in Memphis. Sophomore Samantha Show rebounded beautifully from her rough outing against Mississippi State where she gave up four runs on 11 hits in 4.1 innings of work. Show pitched the first four innings of the run-rule victory, giving up three hits and one unearned run scoring on a pitcher’s throwing error. This outing improved Show’s season record to 9-1 and kept her season ERA under 1.00, sitting at 0.86.

Freshman Payton McBride finished the game, pitching a perfect 1-2-3 inning to close out another victory for the Aggies. Her season ERA sits at 3.18 after the close out performance.

As far as offense, the Aggies had plenty. The 15-run performance set a season high. It was also the highest run output since the Aggies scored 13 at Auburn on May 7, 2016. The ladies put up runs in all but the 2nd inning —4 in the first, 4 in the third, 5 in the fourth, and 2 in the fifth. All in all the tallied 13 earned and 2 unearned runs scored on 15 hits. The Aggies tied the season high hit total. Memphis only managed 1 run on 3 hits in comparison.

The offense was lead by a stellar night from Sarah Hudek who finished the night 3-for-3 at the plate on a single and two doubles, with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Five Aggies recorded multi-hit games on Tuesday night- Keeli Milligan, Kaitlyn Alderink, Riley Sartain, Samantha Show, and of course Sarah Hudek.
