Texas A&M baseball was unable to muster the runs on the back half of the weekend and lost their weekend series to Ole Miss, 2-1.

Game 1: Texas A&M defeats Ole Miss 12-5

There’s something about Texas A&M bats on the opening game of series lately. The Aggie scored early and often to blast by the Rebels 12-5 to open the series on a rainy Friday evening. Texas A&M jumped out early with three in the first and three more in the third.

Braden Shewmake and Logan Foster led the way racking up a combined three #Whammys. Shewmake accounted for two of them while going 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Foster had a great night going 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Overall, Texas A&M scored 12 runs on 14 hits and looked much the better team overall.

As for the mound, Brigham Hill had a short night. The Aggie ace pitched 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out four. Kaylor Chaffin earned his 7th win of the year, pitching 3.2 innings and surrendered only two hits while striking out seven Rebels.

Chaffin has had quite a year and has proved to be the best reliever on this young Aggie team. The last run Chaffin surrendered was on March 26th. He has pitched 25.1 innings since then.

Overall, Texas A&M looked like a team worthy enough to host a regional on Friday night.
