Those of you playing NCAA Football 14 may finally get to stop updating your roster, and Texas A&M football would be a dream team to use in new game.

I’m something of an NCAA Football legend. Well, at least in my house. My online record in the game back in the day would stack up to just about anyone’s. If only I could find the damn thing online somewhere…anyways. Suffice it to say I know what works in the game having spent countless hours playing it and neglecting my school work (Stay in school, kids). Some of the most fun times I had in my gaming life was using Johnny Football with Texas A&M football. He was as unstoppable in that game as he was in real life.

I played the game pretty religiously from 2004 to when they discontinued the game in 2014. It was so much more fun to me than Madden, mostly due to the use of the option playbook. My strength in the game when I played head-to-head online from 2005-2009/2010 (focused on online dynasty mode after) was easily juking with the joystick and not the pre-determined moves. This was especially dangerous when running with the quarterback. Bring on your linebacker spies. I juked them into oblivion.

You know what they say, if you don’t toot your own horn you may not hear the music.

However, there is a point here. The Aggies would be so much damn fun to use if EA ever figured out a way to release the game. It was discontinued to due issues using player numbers and likeness without paying them. The issue of paying players has truly gone too far. We’ve been without the game for five years now. It’s time to rectify.

Kellen Mond is the perfect kind of quarterback to neutralize any supposed talent deficiency. Playing Alabama and their 20 first round picks on defense? Run circles around them. Not only does he have the speed, but he’s B.I.G. He could shake off tacklers in that game like nobody’s business. I liken it to using Vince Young in the NCAA 06 version of the game.

As much as it pains me to say, and please forgive my pre-Aggie days, but the horns were my team in that game. I was 36-0 in online play on the original Xbox. It was unfair how easy it was to naturally juke guys with the sticks with VY. I only lost the first time I ever played the game against a buddy. Don’t think he doesn’t constantly remind me of this.

A fast quarterback was my go-to move in the game. I played in an online dynasty against a bunch of clowns in the ShaggyBevo forum, in which we were restricted to 3-star teams (Aggies above that threshold obviously), so I used Baylor and Robert Griffin III. Went undefeated against all challengers and they stopped playing because nobody could stop me.

I’m certainly not the only one, either. Anyone who was successful at the game more than likely applied the same strategy. The Aggies would be one of the more popular teams to use if the game were released this year or next, and much of that has to do with Mond.
