Conner McQueen, Aggieland’s favorite red head, announced on Twitter that he is joining the Texas A&M football coaching staff.
Today he’s an offensive analyst. Tomorrow? The head football coach? Why not? The Legend of McQueen continues to grow. No backup backup quarterback in the history of the university has been greeted with such an outstanding reaction from the 12th Man.
McQueen boasts an incredible career completion percentage of 100 percent. That’s right, zero incompletions (on only one attempt) during his Aggie career. That one pass came in his senior season. That pass raised his career passing yardage total to a rousing one full yard!
He also showed some ability to move around the pocket and execute the read option. Two rushes gives him eight yards on the ground for his career. That’s almost a first down!
Kevin Sumlin knows that he has to go all in this year. Is it a coincidence that he made the move to bring in McQueen shortly after Athletic Director Scott Woodward made comments about his job security at SEC spring meetings? I don’t believe so. Rather, I think Conner McQueen is Sumlin’s secret weapon.
McQueen for Head Coach
Now let’s think about the long game. The year is 2030. Kevin Sumlin has elected to retire after winning 12 straight championships. He says he doesn’t want to embarrass Nick Saban any more. The Aggies need a new head man? Who better to step into the role of head football coach for Texas A&M than McQueen?
The people love him. He’s a winner. He’s already on staff. It just makes so much sense. Conner McQueen might just be an offensive analyst right now… but the future is bright in College Station for this fiery red head and fan favorite.
