Texas A&M Basketball: Player grades from embarrassing loss to Michigan
By Jeff Shull
The Backcourt
This was the quintessential “bad Starks” game. Starks came out of the gates committing terrible turnovers and missing his outside shots. He wasn’t necessarily trying to do too much, he just couldn’t handle the superior defense from the Wolverines.
Starks finished with 16 turnovers in three games. The Aggies need depth at point guard and probably need Starks to play off the ball more in the future.
FINAL STAT LINE: 2-for-11, 5 points, 1 assist, 5 turnovers
Gilder was neither seen nor heard from much in this game, which was a far cry from the first two games of the tournament. He scored most of his points in the second half when the game was over and missed his only two three point attempts.
His leadership was not enough to pull the Aggies out of the huge hole they dug themselves in this time, although, admittedly, the holes they dug for themselves in their two wins were not quite this large.
Gilder has a decision to make now. He is not an NBA player, so seeing him come back for his Senior season is fairly likely. Hopefully he helps lead another run in the tournament.
