Texas A&M Baseball: Mississippi State preview
Mississippi State pitching
Mississippi State starts junior Konnor Pilkington against the Aggies in game one. You may remember Pilkington from 2017, when the Aggies worked the “Ball 5” chant all the way up to Ball 12 between Pilkington and Peyton Plumlee.
Pilkington has only two wins in 10 starts, and has given up 56 hits, the most on the team. However, he has only walked 12, which is the best of the Bulldog starters. Batters are hitting .242 against Pilkington, the highest of any starter.
Lefty Ethan Small takes the mound for game two. Small is right behind Pilkington with 53 hits given up and an opposing batting average of .241. He leads all State pitchers with 75 strikeouts on the year.
Jacob Billingsley, the only right-hander in the starting line-up, will start game three for the Bulldogs. Billingsley leads the team in walks (25), but also has the lowest batting average of the three starters with a .237. Billingsley has yet to give up a home run in 2018.
