Texas A&M Baseball: No. 1 Florida comes to Blue Bell Park
Florida Players to Watch
The Gator pitching staff is one where you don’t want to chase the starter from the game early because the relievers are just as dangerous. Reliever Michael Byrne leads the SEC with 11 saves, two more than Texas A&M’s Nolan Hoffman.
Junior Brady Singer has been one of the more dangerous pitchers in the nation this season. His eight wins leads the Gators just as Kilkenny’s eight leads the Aggies. Singer verses Kilkenny in game one will be an excellent matchup between two of the best pitchers in the SEC this season.
Junior Jonathan India leads the way for a very good Gator offense. His .401 batting average is the best in the SEC. India also leads the SEC in slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs scored, total bases, and walks. Florida has scored more runs than any other SEC team (336). The Gators are in the top five in the SEC in just about every measure, though the Aggies aren’t far behind. Texas A&M actually has a better team batting average (.292 versus .289) and a better team ERA as well (3.03 compared to 3.21).
The biggest difference is that while the Aggies are getting more at bats and more men on base than the Gators, the Gators are bringing them home. The bottom of the A&M batting order hasn’t been successful this season and leaves men on base far too often.
