Texas A&M Football: 5 games you definitely want to watch in 2018
1. Texas A&M vs. Clemson (Saturday, September 8 – Week 2)
The top game you definitely want to watch this season is the Week 2 matchup against the ACC’s Clemson Tigers.
This game is a night game at Kyle Field against a team that will definitely be ranked in the top two, and maybe even No. 1. If I had to guess, I would say that ESPN’s College Gameday will be in town for the game as well.
The 2018 All-ACC Preseason Team includes all of Clemson’s starting defensive line. Daunting as that is, it will be a great measuring stick for Jim Turner’s offensive line that struggled mightily in 2017.
This game is Jimbo Fisher’s first big test at Texas A&M and should give coaches, players, and fans a good idea of how far the team has come in the short time they’ve had and how far they still have to go.
Only four active head coaches have won the national championship: Nick Saban (Alabama), Urban Meyer (Florida and Ohio State), Jimbo Fisher (at Florida State), and Dabo Sweeny (Clemson). Jimbo Fisher faces two of those other three coaches in the first four games of the season, starting with this one in week two.
To be completely honest I don’t see the Aggies winning this game, but if they can at least remain competitive into the third quarter than I’ll be happy. The last time Clemson came to Kyle Field was in 2004. The unranked Aggies shutdown the 25th ranked Tigers en route to a 27-6 victory. The return trip to South Carolina in 2005 saw the 17th ranked Aggies fall 25-24 to unranked Clemson.
