Texas A&M football: 5 reason Aggies get first SEC road win at South Carolina

History with South Carolina
This speaks a little more to the confidence factor, but nobody on this current A&M squad has ever lost to South Carolina. In fact, Texas A&M hasn’t lost to South Carolina since joining the SEC. They have played every year since 2014 (somehow they got pegged as the “rival” in the SEC East) and Texas A&M has come out on top each time.
Moreover, the Aggies overcame some adversity in a comeback effort last season. Mond and the offense struggled most of the game and were down 17-10 entering the fourth quarter, but they came alive to score two touchdowns and win 24-17.
The run game dominated last year and they will have the confidence to do it again this season. The finished with 237 yards on 49 carries and three touchdowns. That’s 4.8 yards per carry on a huge volume of rushes.
The rush offense was pretty awful last season and has looked much better under Fisher. They’ve improved from 155 rush yards per game all the way up to 226 per game in 2018. A lot of that can be attributed to putting up 503 on Northwestern State, sure, but they’ve done well against tougher competition the last couple of weeks.
Bottom line: Every single Aggie on the team will have the confidence to go into Columbia and get a victory. It will be up to Fisher to game plan properly and get his team to eliminate mistakes in order to actually do that.
