The Texas A&M Football team will get some breathing room between two early ranked games

Thankfully, not every team has drastically exceeded expectations. Texas A&M’s second opponent in this brutal stretch will be Mississippi State, who is almost exactly the team that we expected them to be.

So far on the year, the word that comes to mind to describe this Bulldogs team would be underwhelming. Most fans and analysts expected more to come in the Mike Leach era. The air raid offense has yet to show up, even in three games against less talented nonconference teams.

The Bulldogs are 2-1 with a rough-looking loss to Memphis. Even though Memphis looks like they’re a solid team this year, an SEC team losing to an AAC team will never be a good look. This one was no exception.

Still, Mississippi State now has “trap game” written all over it.

The Bulldogs are consistently in the top-30 recruiting classes in the country, giving them a talented roster. With a proven coach in Mike Leach, nothing should be off of the table in this matchup.

This is the “easy” game in the Aggies’ three-game gauntlet, but it’s not necessarily a walk through the park.
