Texas A&M Football Commit No. 3: Walter Nolen is a generational talent
This is the commitment that fans will be talking about for a while for the Texas A&M football team. Walter Nolen isn’t just the second-best player in the 2022 class, he’s the highest-ranked Texas A&M football commit in program history.
He beat out Myles Garrett, who was also among the best players in his class, for the top spot. If a comparison to Garrett is where your career is beginning, there are likely great things ahead for this young defensive lineman.
Nolen is a five-star prospect from Powell, Tennessee, who had offers from schools like Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, and Alabama. To put it more simply, any team that thought they might have a sliver of a chance of landing Nolen sent an offer his way. If you’re one of the few coaches in the region who didn’t — you’re probably out of a job.
Nolen has elite size at 6’4″ and 325 pounds — physically, he’ll be ready to compete in the SEC immediately. He has good length and is known for his hand violence at the point of attack. He’s slippery for a guy his size — it’s not easy for offensive linemen to stay in front of him.
The Aggie commit also has an extremely high motor. You won’t find anybody outworking Nolen, which is a hard attribute to come by when you’re looking at top prospects.
