Texas A&M Football: 4 reasons why hiring D.J Durkin was a good move
4. Durkin brings experience to the Texas A&M football staff
As we’ve stated earlier, Durkin has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to calling defenses and building tough defensive units. From spending time in Stanford, Florida, Ole Miss, and elsewhere, he has almost 20 years of coaching experience in the collegiate and professional ranks.
He’s had the luxury of going up against some of the better offensive coordinators during his coaching tenure as well, whether they were on the same team in practice or on opposing teams. That experience with different styles of offensive play calling and philosophy’s means Durkin has the ability to counter what could be thrown at this Texas A&M defense.
There’s another factor that having Durkin on this staff brings: NFL experience. His time with the Atlanta Falcons is a nice recruiting tool that they can use to continue brining in some of the best football recruits in the nation. Overall, this is a smart move by Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M to bring in Durkin, and it should have major payoffs in the future.
