Way too early power ranking for 2025 SEC football: 14 - Vanderbilt

Diego Pavia is the sole reason the Commodores are not in dead last right now. His electric style of play and leadership for Vanderbilt last year led them to an upset of then-number one Alabama in the season’s best David and Goliath story.

However, they lose some key contributors, including former Texas A&M football player Eli Stowers. The QB-turned-TE was one of Pavia’s favorite targets, and a pretty reliable one all year.

Without Stowers, and with no real ascendant offensive weapons outside of Pavia, it’s hard to see Clark Lea’s squad recreating some of the magic they had last season. Their schedule is also significantly tougher, having to travel to Austin and Tuscaloosa this time around. Vandy had a great year in 2024, but they still haven’t quite earned the benefit of the doubt.
