Fresh off a successful opening week full of power offense and Olsen Magic, Texas A&M baseball hosts Pepperdine at Blue Bell Park.

Texas A&M’s impressive opening series against Bowling Green showed that the freshman are ready to make an impact on this ball club.  The Aggies begin the season ranked No. 20 but have since moved up to No. 16. Since then, they had a thrilling midweek game against SFA which ended in epic fashion: a walk-off overthrown intentional walk in extra innings.

Freshman, Jorge Gutierrez lead the team in a .714 batting average over the last four games. Gutierrez was not the lineup on opening day but proved himself coming off the bench against Bowling Green. Coach Rob Childress rewarded the young DH with a place in the starting lineup against SFA.

The Pepperdine Waves is also unbeaten after going 3-0 in their opening series, though Tuesday night’s game against California State – Northridge was ended early because of darkness. This game will resume on April 4.

Texas A&M took two of three from the Waves in Malibu last season. Blanking Pepperdine in the final two games. They’ll make the trip to Texas this year.
