The indoor Texas A&M track and field team is ready to make their bid for an SEC title. The Aggies have tough competition, but they’re more than capable of taking home the trophy.

Football and basketball may not have lived up to expectations, but the indoor Texas A&M track and field squad is crushing the competition. The men’s team is No. 5 in the country and the women’s team ranks No. 10. All things considered, Texas A&M’s indoor track and field has had an incredible year.

Despite not receiving the renown of the more televised sports, Texas A&M has been a track and field powerhouse in recent years. Since 2009, the Aggies have won six men’s and women’s national championships in outdoor track and field.

That’s a lot of rings for the outdoor squad in a short span of time. However, they have yet to win an indoor track and field national title. Could this be the year they can finally bring home the national championship trophy? Texas A&M head coach Pat Henry has high hopes for this squad:

"“The championship season is when all these rehearsals, the track meets we’ve done to this point, turns into the play. Now it’s show time. This is the time of year I enjoy and our athletes do as well.”"

Before they can go a national title, the Texas A&M track and field team must face off against their conference foes. The SEC championships are scheduled to take place on February 24th and 25th. A few Aggies in particular have high expectations going into the conference meet.
