Texas A&M Baseball has sent several players to the MLB in recent memory. Six Aggies were on the 2017 Opening Day 25 man roster this season.

86 SEC players were on a 40-man MLB roster on Opening Day. 68 of those players were on a 25-man roster. While there are plenty of guys the casual fan hasn’t heard of, many of these players are more than just roster fillers.

LSU leads the way with nine players on Opening Day 25-man rosters, including Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman. Arkansas has eight players on 25-man rosters head lined but Houston Astros’ ace Dallas Keuchel. They have three more on the 40-man rosters.

Josh Donaldson of the Toronto Blue Jays is one of two Auburn Tigers in the big leagues. Ian Kinsler of the Detroit Tigers and Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals are two of four former Missouri Tigers in the MLB. Tennessee’s R.A. Dickey of the Atlanta Braves and Yan Gomes of the Cleveland Indians make up two of the three 25-man roster members. The orange and white have two more guys on 40 man rosters.

Vanderbilt (five players on a 25 man roster and four players on 40 man rosters) have a pair of aces in the Show, Sonny Gray of the Oakland Athletics and David Price of the Boston Red Sox. Rounding out the rest of the SEC are the following (25-Man Roster/DL + 40-Man Roster):

  • Alabama (7)
  • Mississippi State (6 + 1)
  • Ole Miss (5)
  • Kentucky (4 + 5)
  • South Carolina (4 + 1)
  • Florida (3)
  • Georgia (2 + 2)
