Falcons to Look Out For:

2016 proved to be a breakout year for infielder, Derek Drewes. The now junior batted .298 last season with 28 hits and 11 walks. Drewes broke his personal career record in batting average, runs, RBI, doubles, and on-base percentage. Drewes best game was against Presbyterian where he went 3 for 5. Will Drewes be able to build on this momentum or will his junior year be more of a “sophomore slump”? This weekend’s series will a be a big test for the infielder.

CJ Schildt returned to the field in 2016 for Bowling Green after missing the previous season after having Tommy John surgery. His injury did not slow him down as opponents were held to a .247 batting average. Schildt ended 2016 with a 3.07 ERA in 55.2 innings pitched with 40 strikeouts.

Aggies To Look Out For:

The infield for the Aggies this season will be lead by Senior Austin Homan. In his junior year, Homan posted  a .356 batting average with 26 RBI. Homan recorded a team high 17 errors in 2016, but made up for those mistakes in the post season. In the regional game against Wake Forest he went 4 for 7, setting a new career-high for hits in a game.

Brigham Hill will lead the Aggie’s on the mound this season. In 2016, Hill pitched 97 innings recording 99 strikeouts and finishing the season 9-2 with a 2.51 ERA. The Aggie leaned on Hill in big SEC games last year. During the SEC Tournament game against South Carlolina, Hill allowed only one run in 7.0 innings.
