Game 2 – Saturday, February 18th:

Texas A&M 19-15-0 / Bowling Green 2-5-2 (Box)

It’s never a good idea to walk six batters in a game. It’s even worse to walk six batters in a row to start an inning. Bowling Green learned this the hard way in the top of the 5th as they allowed Texas A&M to go through the whole batting order without recording an out.

Logan Foster had a great moment in the inning with a pinch hit RBI Single. Two batters later, Shewmake came through again with a two RBI Single. Every Aggie who batted in that inning scored as Texas A&M rolled to a 19-2 victory.

As for the pitching, Stephen Kolek put together a solid performance as he went five innings and allowed one run on three hits. I was particularly impressed with the reliever Landon Miner who retired all six batters he faced.

Finally, the #WHAMMY count began as freshman Jorge Gutierrez introduced himself to Aggieland to the tune of two home runs in the later innings. Another great moment occurred in the bottom of the 2nd as Nick Choruby recorded his 1st career Home Run in an Aggie Uniform.
