Need an NFL Combine 101? There’s a lot of buzz about the NFL Combine. Here’s a primer of what the players will go through this week in Indianapolis.

Ever wonder what the three cone drill is? Or how fast is fast enough in the 40 yard dash? All that and more, plus the links to watch it live is right here.

For NFL teams and executives, the NFL combine is one of the most exciting days of the offseason. It’s the time when college players (only those who get invited) all arrive and go through their workouts and tests. Each prospect gets put under a microscope for all the scouts to see.

Each athlete will participate in the 40 yard dash, the bench presses, and the position specific drills. They’ll also be measured from head to toe. Here’s a break down of each event, the timeline, and what the NFL scouts are looking for.

The first group of players began arriving for the 2017 NFL Combine on February 28. Different position groups will arrive in waves each successive day until March 3. A detailed schedule is available here.

In summary:

  • Place kickers, special teams, offensive lineman, and running backs arrive on Day One.
  • Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends arrive on Day Two.
  • Defensive lineman and Linebackers arrive on Day Three.
  • Defensive backs arrive on Day Four.
