TCU Mounts a Comeback

TCU would surge in the later innings, tagging four runs to Aggie reliever John Doxakis. Doxakis pitched well against the Frogs. His two unearned runs came on a single in the seventh inning snuck under the glove of left fielder Walker Pennington.

Corbin Martin came in and looked as good as he has all season, but close Cason Sherrod did not. Sherrod walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning as he struggled to find the zone. Nobody could in the ninth inning.

Sherrod walked three consecutive batters, then freshman Kyle Richardson came on and walked two more in a row. The Aggies walked five straight batters to start the ninth inning. Then Kaylor Chafin came in to try and preserve the Aggie victory. He picked up three K’s, but a fielding error by George Janca allowed the fifth run to score.

The error by Janca would later be ruled a hit, but it was a ball that hit his glove and should have been played. Regardless of how it happened, and Aggies might rather forget, Texas A&M would go to extras against TCU… again.

TCU would load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 12th, but Olsen Magic (in Houston) would rear its head. Choruby came in as a fifth infielder and Chafin worked some magic of his own. Ryan Merrill would punch one into the gap in right center in the 15th inning to mercifully end the game and let everyone go home and sleep.
