Texas A&M Baseball faces Brown University this weekend, looking to bounce back from an inconsistent week in their final tuneup before SEC play begins.
The Aggies put on a very impressive display Friday night against No. 19 Texas Tech winning (9-0), but lost to No. 1 TCU (10-11) in 15 innings. That game set the record for longest game played at Minute Maid Park and definitely hurt A&M going into Sunday’s match up against Baylor which the Aggies lost (3-6). Texas A&M was able to get back on track by sweeping UTRGV in College Station, Tuesday (16-7) and Wednesday (7-4).
Talk surrounding this team has completely shifted since the start of the season. What was “Will the freshman be prepared for competition” has turned into “Wow, the freshman are playing better than the seniors!”. While the team appreciates everything the freshman class is doing, if the Aggies are going to finish this season in Omaha it’s going to take every person on the roster.
Before travelling to College Station the Bears are 0-3 on the season after loosing to Nicholls St. in their series last weekend. Being so early in the season for Brown, not much is known about the northern club.
Brown follows in the footsteps of fellow Ivy League institutions that have visited College Station recently. The Aggies swept Yale last year and Dartmouth the year before that. Texas A&M will be expected to win the series, but in doing so will try to get as much quality innings in as possible as they head into conference play next weekend.
