Texas A&M Basketball Misses 2017 NCAA Tournament

The Texas A&M basketball team had opportunities to make a run into the 2017 NCAA Tournament, but the Aggies won’t be going to the Big Dance this year.

In total, 10 teams that the Aggies played this season will be playing in the NCAA Tournament. Despite making several of these games close contests, the Aggies would finish just 1-12 against 2017 NCAA Tournament teams.

Texas A&M did not play and of the teams in the Midwest Region of the bracket.

The East Region

No. 4 Florida – First Round Matchup: No. 13 East Tennessee State

The Aggies were in this game to the end, but the Gators pulled out a 71-62 victory in Gainesville.

No. 7 South Carolina – First Round Matchup: No. 10 Marquette

One of the Aggies many late game swoons downed them against the Gamecocks. South Carolina finished the game on a 14-2 run to close out a 79-68 victory over A&M.

No. 9 Virginia Tech – First Round Matchup: No. 8 Wisconsin

This might have been the biggest victory of the season for the Aggies. In the Wooden College Classic over the Thanksgiving weekend Texas A&M used a furious comeback of their own to beat the Hokies 68-65.

No. 11 Southern Cal – First Round Matchup: No. 11 Providence (First Four)

The Aggies lost to USC in their third game of the season by a final score of 65-63. DJ Hogg missed a potential go-ahead three pointer with seven seconds on the clock.
