2016-2017

With an opportunity to follow up on a terrific post-season run the program reverted back to it’s old ways: underachieving despite a talented roster in a weak conference.

There were glimmers of hope throughout the year that showed what this team was capable of, with close losses to elite programs such as UCLA, Arizona, and West Virginia however they would follow strong performances like these up with losses to inferior opponents time and time again.

Despite it’s starting point guard (JJ Caldwell) being ruled ineligible to begin the year, the team still had a sure fire lottery pick in Robert Williams to go along with 3 all-conference type talents in Admon Gilder, D.J. Hogg, and Tyler Davis.

Failing to make the Dance with this group might the biggest disappointment in the Kennedy Era. The team would end their season with a blowout loss to Vanderbilt in the SEC tournament and once again miss the NCAA/NIT tournaments for the fourth time in six years.
