In 14 starts, predominantly as the Aggies’ designated hitter, Logan Foster has taken 73 at bats – second most on the team to Braden Shewmake. He has 19 strikeouts and 5 walks with a .370/.410/.712 slash line. Foster has 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 4 home runs. His team leading extra base total contributed to 26 runs scored and 12 RBI. He has one stolen base on one attempt.

How He Fits

Texas A&M leads the nation in triples. That’s because of guys like Foster. Childress has made him a mainstay in the Aggie lineup following the Shriners’ Classic in Houston. That weekend he went 7-for-17 with five extra base hits. In a field that include five top 16 programs, Foster was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In short, he’s on fire. And even the potent pitching of Texas Tech and TCU couldn’t put him out. How he fares over the next few weekends will be crucial. In his first breakthrough weekend against Pepperdine he blasted two home runs. Since then however, the book has been out on Foster. His tendency to chase breaking balls down and a way has left him looking silly at the plate a few times.

He’s already one of the best true fastball hitters in maroon and white. How he responds to pitchers trying to pitch him away will determine whether or not he has the staying power at the top half of this lineup. So far, so good.
