Texas A&M baseball bounced back after a rough weekend series against Kentucky (0-3) with a victory over Rice (8-5). Next up, Vanderbilt.
The Aggie faithful set a season high in Tuesday’s game for the “Ball 5” chant. Rice RHP Nick Silber walked Austin Homan (4-0) prompting the beginning of the “Ball 5” chant which continued through Braden Shewmake’s (4-0) walk and ended during Logan Foster’s AB. A&M Baseball and fans needed that mid-week win to get back to their winning ways.

The Aggies will make their first trip outside the state of Texas this week going to Nashville, Tennessee to face Vanderbilt. Olsen Field is one of the hardest ballparks for opposing teams to play in and it gives the home team a major advantage. Can A&M be competitive outside of College Station?
So far this season they haven’t played well on the road losing to TCU (10-11), Baylor (3-6) on neutral sites and losing to Texas (3-4) last week in Austin. Texas and TCU are big rivals and the Aggies faced Baylor just hours after playing 15 innings against TCU.
There isn’t an easy road venue to visit in the SEC. Vanderbilt in particular has an incredible atmospheres on campus and in their stadium. The Aggies will look to veteran players like seniors Nick Choruby and Joel Davis to prepare the younger team. So far the team has benefited from “Olsen Magic” riding the 12th Man to a 14 – 4 record in College Station.
This weekend will become either a warning or a confidence boost. Either way we’ll know a lot more about the potential of A&M’s post season chances.
