Daniel Mengden – RHP Oakland Athletics

A two way player in his college career, Mengden moved from the bullpen to the rotation in his later seasons at Texas A&M. He finished with a collegiate ERA of 3.21 with 230 walkouts to 61 walks.

Mengden was drafted in the 4th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. After plaything through rookie ball and upper A-ball in Houston’s system he was traded to the Oakland Athletics as part of a package that sent Scott Kazmir to the Astros.

Mengden made his MLB debut on June 11, 2016 with the Oakland Athletics. He pitched threw 5.2 IP with five strikeouts, allowing two earned runs. It was a strong outing, but unfortunately for Mengden, he didn’t get much run support and was saddled with the loss.

In 14 appearances with the A’s, Mengden is 2-9 with a 6.50 ERA. He has 71 strikeouts in 72 career innings pitched, but 33 walks.
