After a rough start to the series, Texas A&M basball saw their bats wake up and lead the Aggies to another SEC Series win over the Auburn Tigers

The combination of a rolling Aggie offense and shut-down bullpen is something Texas A&M fans can get used to. Texas A&M (22-11, 5-7) stayed strong after losing Friday’s contest to claim the series with wins on Saturday and Sunday over the No. 11 Auburn Tigers (24-10, 8-4). Freshman Hunter Coleman was the star at the plate, going 5-11 with a #Whammy on Saturday. Stephen Kolek had an incredible performance on Sunday to close out the series.

Game 1: Auburn beats Texas A&M 2-1

As promising as the weekend was, Texas A&M’s offensive performance on Friday night was not. Auburn held on for a 2-1 lead. The Aggies went a combined 5-for-33 at the plate and didn’t record a hit until the 4th inning. Joel Davis recorded the only Aggie run in the top of the 9th with a #Whammy to right field. Other that, however, the Aggies were held in check by the Auburn pitchers, as they struck out a combined 14 Aggies.

Casey Mize went seven innings for the Tigers, only allowing two hits, one walk and striking out 12 Aggie batters. Cole Lipscomb and Andrew Mitchell backed Minze up well, combining for two innings and only allowing three hits. Mitchell earned his second save of the year Friday night.

As for the Aggies, Brigham Hill pitched well in his six innings of work. Hill allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight. The two runs came on a double by Jay Estes in the top of the 3rd. Cason Sherrod was great in relief, allowing only one hit in his three innings of work.
