Missouri Batting

Offensive woes have been the primary reason why the Tigers fortunes have turned. Mizzou was one of the biggest surprise stories in college baseball with a 20-1 start. However, in their last 20 games they’re sporting a woeful 7-13 record.

The Tigers’ SEC stats are very telling of their struggles. When accounting for overall stats, seven starters are batting .280 or higher but only two regulars are batting above .250 in conference play. Moreover, the team is last in batting average during SEC play with a .229 rate. The only real positive is that they are a very patient team, leading the SEC in walks to somewhat offset the batting woes. They’re ninth in the SEC in runs scored during conference play.

Rightfielder Trey Harris is arguably a top 5 SEC player with a .292 average/12 HR/43 RBI on the year. He is one of the few Tigers bats that have not cooled down in conference play as he is tied for first in home runs and tied for third in RBIs in the league.

Brett Bond will be another bat to watch for as he has had a .309 average and is second on the team in both home runs and RBIs (8 and 33 respectively). He also has not slowed down in conference play with 5 HRs and 10 RBI.
