The 2017 NFL Draft is in the books and five Texas A&M players heard their names called. Who went where and how do they fit with their new teams?

As quickly as the 2016 college football season came and went, so did the the 2017 NFL Draft. And boy was it a crazy one. Every year the draft has it’s fair share of memorable moments ranging from jaw-dropping to even more jaw-dropping.

Of course, the biggest story as far as we’re concerned is the fact that five Aggies went in this draft. This was the seventh consecutive draft in which an Aggie was drafted in the first round. Where do we start? I’d say the first round is a logical place.

. Round 1 (1 Overall). Browns. Myles Garrett. DE. player. 53

Not only was the streak of having a player go in the first round continued, there was also a bit of Aggie Football history made. Myles Garrett is the first No. 1 overall pick in school history. And even if it is the Browns he went to, I’m overall optimistic about this one. It’s no big secret that the last Aggie who went to that organization didn’t work out so well for them (or him).

On a personal note, I don’t think this pick couldn’t have happened to a better guy. Garrett isn’t only a proven beast on the field, he’s also one of the nicest human beings on the face of the planet. A lot of people (especially Tennessee fans on Twitter) will argue about his productivity in college, but spending most of the season dealing with a lingering injury will hamper just about anyone. The fact that Garrett insisted on playing with that ankle doesn’t just attest to his talent, it’s also a big indicator of his personal character.

When healthy he was a proven game-changer. That’s true even if the rest of the team wasted his heroic efforts a few times. A combination of those things tell me that this is the right man to at least set the Browns on the right path to success. I think this pick will pay off for Cleveland on and off the field.
