Round 3 (77 Overall). Panthers. Daeshon Hall. DE. player. 87.

Admittedly, I’m a bit sore on this one. The Carolina Panthers got him, but I really wanted Dae Dae to get picked up by the Cowboys because of their weak spot at pass rusher, but what do I know? I’m not running the organization.

At Texas A&M Hall was overshadowed by Garrett because of the latter’s deserved hype and status, but he’s an absolutely ferocious pass rusher in his own right. One of my favorite Dae Dae moments is the 2016 Arkansas game when he just destroys Austin Allen and in the process, forces a fumble that the Aggies recovered.

One could argue that Hall and Garrett were the nation’s top pass rush duo when both were healthy. So where does Hal fit in for the Panthers? Last season, their defensive production suffered when Luke Kuechly went down against the New Orleans Saints. What this tells me is like the Cowboys, the Panthers need more than one capable pass rusher to … keep pounding.

If I’m not mistaken, Jared Allen retired not too long ago and Julius Peppers isn’t going to play forever. When they lost Josh Norman to free agency the Panthers’ secondary wasn’t quite the same without him. All that can be mitigated if you can just get to the quarterback and bring him down really quickly. I think Hall, with time, should be able to do just that and the Panthers will keep pounding.
