5. Kevin Sumlin – Texas A&M

Record at School

44-21

Ranking Justification

Based purely on his record, Sumlin has been one of the more successful head coaches in the SEC. The problem with Sumlin isn’t the quantity of wins, it’s the lack of wins in November. Three consecutive November collapses have overshadowed huge, program defining victories.

Texas A&M football has largely under achieved as a program in their history. Sumlin did enough to get his team in the College Football Playoff conversation last season. Next step: find a way to win meaningful games in the final stretch of the season.

Worst Loss

The Aggies blew a three touchdown lead in the fourth quarter to a true freshman quarterback in his first career start – at home.

Best Win

The jewel of Johnny Manziel‘s Heisman campaign and possibly the best win in program history.
