3. Jim McElwain – Florida

— UPDATE — Jim McElwain became the first SEC Coach removed from his duties after falling to Georgia in Week 9

Record at School

19-8

Ranking Justification

McElwain has won the SEC East in each of his first two seasons in Gainesville. He was the 2015 SEC coach of the year. Barring the soul-crushing machine of Nick Saban he might have won an SEC title or two.

While he lacks the charisma of some of the more boisterous characters in the SEC, he’s proven he can win. When you stack up the resumes, McElwain has clearly separated himself from the middle of the pack of the SEC coaching ranks.

Worst Loss

A 10-1 start came to a thud. Fast.

Best Win

A top five win in dominant fashion.
