The 2018 Texas A&M Recruiting landed a pair of talented defenders to the fold. Max Wright and Leon O’Neal Jr. have committed to the Aggies.

99 and 9. That’s been the saying for a while now. The duo of defensive end Max Wright (99) and safety Leon O’Neal Jr. (9) have both been extremely high on Texas A&M throughout their recruiting processes. Those good feelings found fruition with their commitment to the Aggies today. The two made a video together with TexAgs revealing their decision.

Everybody is sleeping on Max Wright

Wright, the strong side defensive end from Katy Taylor is the number 84 overall player in the 2018 class and currently is ranked third at his position. The Aggies are already off to a great start with their defensive line, having defensive tackle Dominic Livingston already committed.

Wright dealt with an injury last season, and is still ranked as one of the highest defensive ends in the nation. With Wright feeling better, he is poised for a monstrous senior year that should serve to see his ranking fly up the charts. In his junior year, Wright earned 70 tackles, nine sacks, and 18 tackles for loss. This is a huge win for the Aggies.  It comes against in state foe, Texas.

Hard hitting Leon O’Neil Jr. is a great fit in College Station

The number six rated safety, O’Neal’s rating has skyrocketed throughout the offseason, and he doesn’t look to stop. Receiving comparisons to Tampa Bay Buccaneer and former Aggie, Justin Evans, O’Neal lives up to his hype. His saying, “Wake em’ up”, certainly makes sense as he earned a total of 86 tackles in his junior season, also adding on two forced fumbles and two interceptions.

Jordan Moore, the other Aggie safety currently committed for 2018 will make a scary good duo with O’Neal. They are already building chemistry by playing on the same 7-on-7 team. O’Neal is racking up accomplishments including being a Nike Opening Finalist. This guy is a special player and he should fit right into the SEC and Coach John Chavis’ defense. O’Neal was also another head-to-head recruiting win over Texas.

Momentum could carry with these two’s commitments. That is just what the Aggies are looking for as Texas is also on a roll. Both of these guys were though to be at the center of long recruiting battles between the Aggies and Longhorns. That makes these commitments even sweeter. Wright and O’Neal are extremely talented and unique players that should have a huge impact after this season when they are on campus.
