I’m sure you’re asking, “What on earth does this have to do with anything? This is August and I want football.” Well, our friends at ESPN are having a special on August 8th, (8/8) called ESPN8 The Ocho. All day ESPNU will be called ESPN8, bringing to your living room highlights and footage from sports that don’t get the recognition that they truly deserve i.e. cornhole, washers, ultimate frisbee. Yes, these are all considered sports. Don’t believe me? Try playing washers against a redneck; there is an art to the madness.

If you’ve ever seen the masterpiece of a film, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, then you’ll be familiar with The Ocho. It was the one and only network where you got to see Vince Vaughn and the Average Joes pull the upset and comeback of the century against Ben Stiller’s Globo Gym. ESPN has made this network a reality for a day, bringing you dodgeball and so much more.

So, what does this have to do with Texas A&M? You mean to tell me, that you didn’t know your very own Fightin Texas Aggies have a Quidditch team of their own? I really hope you didn’t call yourself Redass until just now.

Actually, the Aggies have two of their own teams, Texas A&M and The Silver Phoenix. There were so many people eager to play that two teams were created. They play against other schools at tournaments around the state and country. Both teams are usually ranked in the Top 25 nationally and have a reputation of being of elite programs, as is the Aggie way. In fact, last season TAMU was the only school to qualify both teams for nationals.
