8. 2017 Softball: Samantha Show Complete Game – A&M 3, Texas 1

This past season’s contest in the NCAA Regional was not only the first time A&M and Texas played in College Station since 2012, but it was also only the second time the schools played since A&M left the Big XII (they met in 2016 in the Lafayette Regional of the NCAA Tournament, and split two games). There was a lot on the line besides a win in the Tournament.

Aggie pitcher Samantha Show pitched a complete game, and gave up only one run on an RBI ground out in the second inning. The hit allowed the Longhorns to get on the board first, but Show didn’t allow the Horns to get anything else going after that. She gave up just three more hits after that inning and struck out four in the game.

Show’s complete game was the Aggies second in three days – and in the Tournament, no less. That combined with Tori Vidales’ bat was all the Aggies would need to win the Regional and head to the Supers. The Aggies tied the game on Vidales’ solo home run in the 3rd, and then took the lead on a bases loaded two RBI double courtesy of Vidales.

After disposing of the Longhorns, the Aggies faced and beat a very good Tennessee team in Knoxville before making an appearance in the 2017 Women’s College World Series. This season was the Aggies first trip back to Omaha since the 2008 team played in the Women’s College World Series Final.
