During their weekly pregame press conference Texas A&M football released their first depth chart of the 2017 and it was impressively vague in some key areas.

A full print out of the depth chart is available on the Aggie Athletics website. Honestly, there isn’t much to see. There were a handful of notable position battles headed into the 2017 season. Some of those were resolved, at least on paper, but the most notable battle, quarterback, was left open-ended.

Kevin Sumlin‘s staff listed positions still in flux with a big “OR” next to the players competing for the spot. It was reported this week, not confirmed or denied by the university, that Nick Starkel has won the starting job. Here’s what the depth chart reads entering the UCLA game: Jake Hubenank OR Kellen Mond OR Nick Starkel. At least they did tell us that all three guys are ahead of true freshman Connor Blumrick in the pecking order. So there’s that.

With game day drawing near we’ll get to see who steps out on the field with our own eyes soon enough. Given that, let’s break the analysis down into two pieces: positions that we have clarity on and positions still up in the air.
