What we don’t know
Running back
There wasn’t expected to be much controversy at the running back position, but when you look at the depth chart there isn’t an official starter listed. Keith Ford and Trayveon Williams share the OR tag between their names. It seemed almost certain that Williams would see an uptick in carries this year but still share some with Ford. I’d expect more of a 70/30 split, but as things are written right now it’s 50/50.
Linebacker
No. 12 Cullen Gillaspia is penciled in at the Sam Linebacker spot. That’s a bit of a shock considering one of the best linebacker recruits in the country is listed as the second stringer behind Tyrel Dodson in the middle. It will be interesting to see if defensive coordinator keeps the fan favorite on the field over Anthony Hines when the SEC slate comes around. This could just be a situation where Hines has to adjust to the learning curve. Walks, before he runs.
Tight end
Kalvin Cline OR Aaron Hansford OR Tanner Schorp. The better question is will tight end be a relevant position on this team OR will it fade into the background once again. It’s hard to believe that Sumlin is going to convince an elite tight end recruit to commit to the Aggies if he can’t show he’s committed to giving some a chance to take charge of the position. Or maybe he is and no one has separated from the pack.

Kickoff returner
Christian Kirk is going to be a crucial part of this team. Getting him the ball as often as possible is priority number one for this offense. However, as far as special teams go, Kirk wasn’t on the field for kickoffs most of last season. A dangerous punt returner, Kirk is already the career leader in punt return touchdowns at Texas A&M. Will he move back to kickoffs as well or will a new face emerge?
