Texas A&M football is back home to face Nicholls State. Can the Aggies put the disappointing loss behind them and earn their first win of 2017?

The Texas A&M football season kicked off last Sunday. The Aggies came out of the gates running the ball successfully and putting up touchdowns. The defense forced two fumbles in the first half. After half time though it was a totally different team. The Aggies could not move the ball or stop the Bruins and lost the game to fall to 0-1.

Nicholls State is coming to College Station having won their first game against McNeese State 37-35. The Colonels won on a game winning field goal as time expired. Nicholls State is in the Southland Conference. The Colonels have had some close games against bigger FBS schools. For example, Nicholls State played the Georgia Bulldogs last season and only lost by two points. The Colonels are not a team the Aggies should take lightly.

The Aggies did not take care of UCLA last week causing them to start the season on the wrong foot. Texas A&M is looking to bounce back from the loss and regain some trust from the 12th Man again.

With the loss last Sunday at the Rose Bowl, the Aggies snapped their four-year streak of starting off the season with a win. The only positive to take out of the Aggies loss is that the last time the Aggies started the season off with a loss they ended up only losing two games all year and had a Heisman Trophy winner. Texas A&M is trying to climb back into not only top 25 ranking discussions but College Football Playoff discussions as well.

Wouldn’t it be nice for the Aggies to come home and win in front of the 12th man? Winning against Nicholls State would help get the ship turned back around in the right direction. It would also be a big confidence booster before the SEC slate begins.
