George Woodard is most likely the one on this list that doesn’t get the publicity he should.  A freak injury after his junior year basically cut short a potential long career in the NFL.  He was drafted in the 11th round of the 1980 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.

Before his off the field injury, Woodard was on pace for 4,000 yards rushing.  He was coming off back to back 1,100 plus rushing seasons.  Everyone knows by watching other wishbone offenses back then and now more traditional triple option teams, the fullback or “B” back is the bruiser.

He was an integral part of the first back-to-back 10 win football teams in Aggie history. Woodard finished his career trailing only his teammate Curtis Dickey on the career rushing list.  He now sits sixth, he also had 16 career 100-yard games and finished his career with 35 touchdowns (fourth in school history)

What would these numbers be if not for the injury?
