Here we are in year six of the Kevin Sumlin era and year six of being in the SEC.  While this is just my prediction, if we are 9-2, a win most likely sends us to Atlanta with the Sugar Bowl in this year’s playoff rotation.

Let me ask everyone a question, based on what you’ve seen through three games, do you think 9-2 can happen? Is 8-3 or 7-4 more likely? Or is this team and season in complete turmoil heading to Baton Rouge with five or six wins. I’m hopeful that the four games before the bye week is better than .500 and if so this team will have a legit shot at nine wins. Hoping to get win nine in Baton Rouge will be tough. Remember my Arkansas argument, I was a junior and Leeland McElroy (Aggies No. 3 preseason) was a preseason Heisman contender the last time we beat LSU.

Will we ever beat LSU? The answer is yes, I just don’t believe it will be this year. Winning in Baton Rouge is tough enough and who knows maybe both coaches need this game.

Now, what have we seen from the Tigers this year? Wins against BYU and Chattanooga and a bad loss against Mississippi State that has Tiger fans wondering what happening in Starkville. I’ll tell you what happened, it looks like the same offense we’ve seen in Baton Rouge for years. The Tigers crossed midfield once before the fourth quarter (ouch). Once they crossed the 50 for the second time, Mississippi State had rolled off 30 straight points. In fact, the Bulldogs scored on seven straight possessions, when have you ever seen that happen to LSU?

So what does this all mean, who knows? Maybe it was a perfect storm to catch LSU early and in Starkville. The remainder of the Tigers schedule is similar to everyone else in the challenging SEC West. Every coach but Saban and Mullen are coaching as if it may be their last chance. They will bounce back but for the second consecutive year, but LSU will have more losses than the Aggies when this game is played on Thanksgiving weekend.

LSU will make seven in a row against the Aggies in 2f017 but this will be the last win for a couple of years as I will throw it down now, the Aggies win in 2018 and 2019.

Final score prediction:  Tigers win 27-17

Final record prediction: 9-3

The Aggies finish 9-3 and finally receive one of those bowl invitations from the Sunshine State. How nice would that be? No telling which bowl or who we would play, but playing in a bowl game to get potentially to 10 wins with the amount of talent coming back gets me excited.

But before we start making reservations, let’s finish September in style. The Aggies first need a winning record in October and then they can finally  finish strong in November.

Gig’em, BTHO Arkansas.
