2. Mond/Ausbon is a deadly combination

Freshman quarterback Kellen Mond has improved week to week, and a big part of that is finding his favorite receiver from IMG Academy. Fellow freshman Jhamon Ausbon has played a larger and larger part of this offense and the chemistry is apparent. Ausbon had five catches for almost 50 yards, but was targeted more often than other receivers, and had several great catches.

A quarterback that has a connection with a receiver can be excellent and cause many sleepless nights for defensive coordinator. All Aggies remember how Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans used to take over games, and Mond to Ausbon could be the next great combination in College Station. Mond may not be the next Manziel, and Ausbon may not be as good as Evans was, but the connection is there.

Next week, against Will Muschamp‘s South Carolina Gamecocks, they will have another great test. Muschamp always has good defenses, at Florida, Texas, Auburn, and now South Carolina. In only his second year, his team will look more and more like a Muschamp squad. But as Mond and Ausbon are both freshmen, they have a wonderful chance to take the league by storm in the coming seasons.
