Texas A&M football improved to 4-1 for the year after defeating South Carolina 24-17. These Aggies in particular played a huge role in the team’s victory.

Texas A&M football rattled off their fourth straight win Saturday against SEC opponent South Carolina. The Aggies are now 2-0 in conference play and are tied with Alabama and Auburn for first place in the SEC West.

Texas A&M looked a bit sluggish in the first half of this one. They trailed the Gamecocks 10-7 after two quarters of play. However they were able to make some adjustments during halftime and avoid their second loss of the season.

One of the main adjustments came on offense when the coaching staff decided to get quarterback Kellen Mond more involved in the running game. When Mond carries the ball, whether it be on designed quarterback runs or on scrambles, A&M has had success on offense. Opposing defenses will now have to account for him as a runner, which will hopefully open things up for him in the passing game.

Texas A&M’s defense has continued to improve as well. The Aggies had no problem getting pressure on South Carolina QB Jake Bentley as John Chavis’s defense combined for 7 sacks, 5 of them coming in the second half.

The Aggies four game winning streak is in danger of coming to an end as they get ready to host top ranked Alabama next week. But before you start looking ahead to Bama week, you should first acknowledge these Aggies for their performances against South Carolina.
