1. Tyrel Dodson

Dodson played like a mad man Saturday night. It’s so much fun to watch this guy fly around the field and make play after play. Playing against a team in Alabama, who year after year sees numerous defenders selected in the early rounds of the NFL Draft, Tyrel Dodson held his own.

And holding his own would be a major understatement. It felt as if Dodson was involved in every tackle made by the A&M defense in this game. He finished the night with a game high 16 total tackles! The next closest player on either team only accounted for 10 tackles. Dodson’s busy night didn’t end there. He also accounted for one sack, 2.5 tackles for loss, and two quarterback hurries.

Dodson is what some might label a coach’s dream at linebacker. The sophomore can do it all. He’s a solid pass rusher, can make tackles in the open field, and gets involved on every defensive play of every game. This guy just like to hit people!

Dodson is also one of the better linebackers in the country when it comes to coverage skills. He already has two interceptions this season. He is an elite level athlete, and that athleticism is on full display when he is asked to drop back into coverage.

Texas A&M played Alabama closer than any other team this season. This was largely due to Dodson’s relentless pursuit on defense. He’ll be looking to build off this performance as he and the Aggies prepare to take on Florida this week.
