Week 9 (6-1,2-1 Big 12): Iowa State

Texas A&M defeats Iowa State 39-16

Iowa State is always a strange game when it is played in Ames. The 2011 Aggies won there 33-17, but are probably thankful they didn’t return in our 2012. Iowa State had their offensive coordinator hired away by Ohio State in the offseason before 2012, and was breaking in a new guy. They ended up going 3-6, but would LOVE to upset the Aggies, who are probably pretty highly ranked at 7-1.

The Aggies move to 7-1 behind a pretty solid performance. In the game I highlighted, Johnny decided he was having none of the Iowa State game. He went 31 of 36 for 371 yards and two touchdowns in a surgical passing performance. On the ground, he added 91 yards and five more touchdowns in a 52-17 romping. If he is to win the Heisman in the parallel 2012 we have created, this is his game that puts him on the map.
